This client, unfortunately, never got off the ground with their business, a spiritual counseling company. However, the logo design process developed an identity that I am quite proud of.

The Challenge
This client was a new start-up business, focusing on spiritual counseling. They wanted an image that supported flexibility, adaptability, and personal growth.
Part of the challenge that this business provided for me was working within their rather limited budget. We worked closely together to ensure that they received the identity they wanted, while staying strictly within the budget they had outlined prior to signing the contract.
The Solution
In the many discussions I had with this client, I first led her through an exercise in symbolism - since she was primarily interested in a symbolic identity system. After discussing a number of strengths and weaknesses that she perceived her company would have, we finally settled on the image of a willow branch - which also led to the choice of name for the business.
Part of the time I spend working for clients is research. Since she was working with such a strict budget, and she had impressive researching skills, I requested that she research fonts. While she completed that research, I worked on the image that underlies the background of the logo. I shared some of my resource sites for free or low cost fonts with her, and she took a number of weeks to look through the resources available through the Internet. Once her research was completed, she came to me with a number of fonts that she felt supported the image she wished to reflect. I completed the logo with each of the fonts she chose - and together we chose this completed version.
It is unfortunate that this business never completely got off the ground, but I wish this client all the best! She taught me as much about working within strict budgetary guidelines as I taught her about graphic design.
