The Challenge:
The assignment for this piece, was to choose a process (organic or mechanistic) and educate the viewer regarding that process. It could be used in such places as a museum kiosk - to educate children in history and in the process involved in the eruption of a volcano.
I chose the destruction of Herculanum and Pompeii because it supported dual educational purposes - as stated above, it covers both a historical item and the process of volcanic eruption.
Researching and developing the storyboard for this piece was an enlightening experience. It was far more challenging than any other animation I had done before.
The Solution
I was able to pull together my own experience in teaching younger students, along with my knowledge of history, to create a sequence that is both historical and entertaining.
